Health and Safety tutorial:

During our media lesson we were taught the health and safety procedures of the equipment, how to construct the equipment, use appropriately and avoid equipment not functioning correctly. Firstly we were shown how to use the JVC cameracorder. We were taught the different types of buttons and what there functions were; for example, the red button in the side of the camera starts the recording and the WZ button allows the user to zoom in and out to construct the camera shot. Secondly we were shown the memory card slots on the camera and how they function, for example there are two shots labelled A and B in which A records first or the opposite if switched from B to A. Another function was how to insert the battery properly. Finally we were shown how to construct the tripod to ensure it was secure and stable, we were then shown how to place the cameracorder onto the tripod and secure accurately.
After this we looked at the different shot types for example how to construct an over the shoulder shot. We then looked at spacing and focus, for spacing we were advised not to leave to much space above the subject or to place the subject too far to the right or left of the frame. We were then advised to use manual focusing during filming as this gives a more sharp high quality image.

Responsibilities:
·         Don’t change menu settings on the camcorder
·         Do not leave the camera or bag unattended
·         Make sure you have all equipment before leaving the building
·         Bring all equipment back on time
·         Check weather in advance as you may need shelter for the camcorder
