Movie opening analysis for The Taking Of Pelham 123

The Taking Of Pelham

Immediately from  the beginning we see the production/distribution company which is Colombia pictures. We get a panning shot of the city which shows us the setting.  The non-diegetic sound of the fast and upbeat music sets a very fast pace. This is also created by the fast forward effect.  From there we see the criminals and someone famous. John Trovalta.  A lot of editing is done in this. We see this when the title sequence comes on with another non-diegetic sound.  The parrarel shot in this tells us that the criminals are being watched and that this is going to be a fast paced movie. In the office there is a lot of light which creates a friendlier atmosphere where as in the station it is much darker. This has a gloomier atmosphere.
