Conventions Of Film Openings - Unknown

In the opening of unknown, we first see the title sequence which introduces the production companies and actors.

After we are shown the production companies, Liam Neeson's name comes up on its own. This shows that Neeson is a popular actor and therefore it intrigues the audience to watch the film. Moreover, we see a shot of Neeson were we notice airplane windows which immediately engages the audience as we know he is going to go on an exciting journey.

Later on, once the film has started, we see wide shots of areas which introduces the location, telling the audience where the characters are.

Another shot that we see is a two shot of Liam neeson and his wife. She says "you'll do great, you always do." This quote again, engages the audience becuase it gives us a hint that Neeson is going to do something, but we don't know what yet.

We later see a close up of a suitcase that Neeson has forgoten which makes us want to carry on watching becuase we know that he needs it and what will he do. The editing cuts straight to a lot of traffic that the couple are in, telling us that they are going quite far, without all their luggage. When Neeson is hurring back for the suitcase, we see a negative reaction shot which straight makes us know that the action will start.
