Movie opening analysis for Unknown

Unknown

Straight away we see the in the title sequence who the production company is. “Studio Canal” “dark castle” It starts off with a panning shot for a while and then zooms in to the plane where we see the main character. The use of diegetic sound in there creates a soft and relax atmosphere, making the audience think about what might happen. The snow also creates a cold atmosphere. The way the protagonist speaks makes him look sophisticated.  The close up shot of the lady followed by a match cut of the man getting in the taxi to drive away allows the audience to see the lady’s facial expression. We see that now something is wrong. The slow motion effect used when the car goes over the barrier and into the river creates a suspenseful aura which stresses that moment in time.
