Inspiration: Mission Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol (Analysis)

The thriller I have chosen to analyse over the Christmas Break was Mission Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol. I thought this would be a great film to analyse as it has been recently released, in which I think is a great thriller as seen from the previous films.

Camera:
Throughout various scenes many camera shots/angles have been used, the following identified are present during a fight scene. Many over the shoulder shots are used to show punches, two shots and close ups however shot from different angels such as low angel shots, when someone hits the floor in which portrays them as vulnerable this then allows a lot of action to be shown in a matter of seconds.

Here a close ups has be used in which portrays a characters emotions and feelings through their facial expression.
The women shown looks to be very aggressive.
An over the shoulder shot has been used to show the character behind the camera's Action and result. Many over the shoulder shots have been used to show this.
Here a low angel camera shot has been used in which implies this character is now vulnerable and helpless.

Mise en scene:
Throughout the film the setting allows the audience to identify the location in a specific scene such as a shot of an iconic building which gives away the identity of the city in which it is located. for example the scene in which tom cruise climbs the skyscraper and swings from a high point of 240-structure shows the tallest building in the world the Burj Khalifa, in which is located in Dubai.

Furthermore props in which have been included in this scene are 'super glue gloves' and goggles in which tom cruises tackles to climb the worlds tallest building. this may imply that tom cruises character Ethen Hunt is fearless.

Editing:
Throughout Mission impossible many special effects and editing techniques have been used. one of many editing techniques used, a match cut is used to make the action appear seamless, as shown below we see Ethen Hunt swinging from the building and then landing in the window to make the action appear seamless.

Match cut Follow through
Here a match cut has been used to build tension and make the action appear seamless. throughout the cuts of the scene.

Another feature in which has been identifies is a black screen has been used in between some shots throughout one scene, this then builds tension and keeps the audience on edge.

Sound:
Throughout the action scenes dialogue is kept to a minimum which appeals to the target audience keeping the pace of the action very fast. Many sound effects have been added during post production such as crashes and bangs during the blowing up of the building has been used in order to keep the audience on edge and  builds tension throughout the film.

Also characters accent's during the film enables the audience to identify their regional identity, for example the character Brij Nath has an Indian accent. This also may help the audience develop a stereotype to create an understanding of his actions.
