Like in all film genres, thrillers have different kinds of audience. The main aspects that effect the type of audience is the sub genre of the movie, the gender of the audience and their interests. There are many sub genres, such as action thriller, political thriller, romantic thriller, comedy thriller etc. Men would generally prefer to see a fast paced action-thriller with lots of chase sequences, shootings and violence. In contrast, women may prefer to watch romantic thrillers or comedy-thrillers as they usually contain less scenes of a violent nature.
Age is also another significant thing that impacts the audience. Whereas younger audiences may be excited by graphic violence, elder audiences would generally prefer political thrillers as they're usually more interested in serious topics such as politics and world events.
Final Destination is a horror-thriller, where the story is of a teenager who sees terrifying visions of his own and his friends' deaths. Due to the story being about younger people, the audience would be expected to mostly consist of teenagers and because of the violence, the official age rating is 15.
